BioFairNet | 2025-2028

Bioeconomy and Circular Economy Fair Network | A fair and accessible network for reducing greenhouse gas activities with circular and bio- economy models.

The BIOFAIRNET project is paving the way for a sustainable and fair bio-circular economy across Europe and beyond. By focusing on the agriculture and mining sectors, it promotes the co-creation and testing of innovative solutions through a digitally cooperative network. With a strong emphasis on circularity, stakeholder engagement, and systemic transformation, BIOFAIRNET empowers a more resilient, low-carbon industrial future.

SOSFood | Sustainability Optimization for Secure Food Systems

In the current environmental emergency, the food system has to become more productive, inclusive, sustainable, and resilient. SOSFood will therefore use data-exploitation and AI-based technologies to provide a holistic and comprehensive image of the EU food system and develop tailored predictive tools to support well-informed decisions of all stakeholders of the food chain, with a multi-factorial, multi-actor and multi-scale approach, thanks to its multidisciplinary consortium of experts, from private and public sectors, academia research and food system representative (consumers, producers and industries). Although several initiatives have been taken in the same line, none has fully succeeded at considering the global picture of the system or delivering a reliable and accessible message to the target audience.

FUTURESILIENCE | 2023-2025

FutuResilience | Creating future    societal resilience through innovative, science-based co-creation labs

The FUTURESILIENCE project aims to strengthen European economic and social resilience through an enhanced ability to quickly respond to future crises.

1) Map existing policy relevant European R&I findings with high potential to inform policy making for economic and social resilience, and to help address societal challenges.
2) Define methodologies and guidelines for testing in how far the identified R&I findings can inform policies addressing national, regional and local needs.
3) Implement 10 pilot cases called ‘Future Resilience Labs’, where multiple stakeholders will discuss and test evidence-based strategies tailored to their specific context and matching their local needs. The experimentation will be done in a co-creation environment applying Foresight and participative methodologies.
4) Develop a Knowledge Base of the successfully tested research findings with high capacity to inform policy actors and a Toolbox of methods for testing policy relevant research findings

EXCEED | Creating future
societal resilience through innovative, science-based co-creation labs

The EXCEED – Excellence in Green and Digital Manufacturing- project aims at preparing the Advanced Manufacturing (AM) sector to face the disruptive changes generated by the twin transitions. EXCEED assumes the synergic and mutual benefitting application of digital and green as powerful leverages to accelerate innovation in AM. These changes require the availability of new competencies for the present and future workforce, as well as an overall increase of responsiveness of the education systems. To provide concrete answers, EXCEED will develop a joint international lifelong learning offer for workers in need of upskilling and reskilling, and  a set of new curricula for Higher Vocational Education and Training students.

Ecosister

Ecosistema Territoriale di Innovazione dell’Emilia-Romagna

ECOSISTER is a 36 months long project funded with PNRR resources that aims to enhance the global leadership of Emilia-Romagna’s industrial sector. The Emilia-Romagna industrial sector is well developed and absorbs one-third (33%) of the total energy consumption of the Region and employs 30% of the overall working force of the Region.

To support its productive system, the Region decided to build an integrated innovation system coordinated by ART-ER, which supports Emilia-Romagna’s technological development and innovation. In this context, to respond to the ecological and environmental crisis and in line with policy indication at Regional (e.g. Patto per il Lavoro e per il Clima; S3) and European (e.g. Green Deal) level, ECOSISTER developed 6 spoke, each of them insists on a different, but complementary, topic:

Spoke 1, Materials for sustainable and ecological transition
Spoke 2, Clean energy production, storage and savings
Spoke 3, Green manufacturing for a sustainable economy
Spoke 4, Smart-mobility, housing and energy solutions for a carbon-neutral society
Spoke 5, Circular economy & blue economy
Spoke 6, Ecological transition based on HPC – High Performance Computing and Data Technology
